SPECIAL ISSUE ON
Mathematics and Algorithms for Computer-Aided Manufacturing,
Engineering and Numerical Control

Guest Editors
Rida Farouki, Hongbo Li, Dingkang Wang

This MCS special issue is related to topics discussed in the context of the International Workshop on Mathematics and Algorithms for Computer-Aided Manufacturing, Engineering and Numerical Control (MAMENC 2011) held in October 2011 in Beijing, China. The aim of MAMENC 2011 is to present and discuss new developments and original research results in all areas of computer-aided manufacturing, engineering and numerical control. Specific topics include, but are not limited to:

  1. Tool path planning and simulation
  2. Geometric data processing
  3. Interpolation for CNC controllers
  4. Tool-radius compensation and error compensation for CNC controllers
  5. Feature-based process chain with CAM/CNC coupling
  6. Multiscale simulation
  7. Online collision avoidance

The special issue will contain selected papers related to the above topics, but not necessarily related to the presentations at MAMENC 2011.

The guiding principles for paper submission and review are as follows.

Original research results and insightful analysis of current concerns are solicited for submission. Submissions must not duplicate work already published or submitted for publication elsewhere.

The paper should explain in its introduction, what the problem is, its importance, the contribution of the paper, and how it is related to the existing literature.

Submitted papers should be prepared using LaTeX and according to the instructions for authors available on the MCS webpage and be sent as pdf files to dwang@mmrc.iss.ac.cn.

All submitted papers will be refereed according to the usual MCS refereeing process. If a submission is accepted, then LaTeX sources must be provided.
